Welcome to the Department of Accounting & Information Systems (AIS). Along with the inauguration of Comilla University's program the Department of Accounting & Information Systems commenced its academic pursuits in 2006-2007 session. The mission of the Department is to strengthen our national and international recognition as an outstanding teaching and research center in the area of accounting and to have a leading role in the financial and business sectors of Bangladesh and the neighboring region as well. The Department offers Undergraduate as well as Postgraduate programs in Accounting with a clear philosophy to develop student's with the required knowledge and understanding of theoretical concepts and practical techniques for the accounting profession and managerial discipline. The diversified academic backgrounds of the teachers, their research activities and the dynamic curriculum of the Department of Accounting & Information Systems have made it one of the foremost departments in the Comilla University.

The Department offers four-year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program with major in Accounting & Information Systems. The program comprises of 129 credit hours including a 3-month internship in recognized business organization weighing 3 credit hours. The total program spreads over eight semesters. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) with major in Accounting & Information Systems is our regular Postgraduate program comprising of 36 credit hours. Students of the program have to take 10 courses carrying 3 credit hours each and a 3-month internship in any recognized business organization. The internship weighs 3 credit hours.

 

The Department of Accounting & Information Systems also offers the Degree of Master in Business Administration (MBA) in the evening program. This is a program of 54-66 credit hours covering 16-20 courses of 3 credit hours each and a 3-month internship program carrying 6 credit hours. This program is a self-financed program and administered by a Program Co-ordination Committee.

The study of Accounting is the study of a language that describes how capital is allocated and managed. In our increasingly globalized economy, this language of business is becoming even more important as capital flows across borders. The role of Accounting Executives is central in the management of business, assessment of performance and reporting key data investors, regulators and other members of the society. So, we are committed to pursue a continuous enhancement of our academic programs in order to keep succeeding our mission and to respond to the diversified challenge of our times.
