Welcome to the website of the Department of Archaeology, Comilla University, Cumilla, Bangladesh. The Department started its journey in the academic session 2013-14 under the faculty of Social Science.

The Department of Archaeology is one of the leading departments of Comilla University. At present, we offer a four years BSS (Honors), a one year MSS in Archaeology for regular students only. The goals of archaeological research is to obtain a broad understanding of human culture. Archaeologists are interested in studying culture in the past and present through material remains. The discipline involves surveying, excavation and eventually analysis of data collected to learn more about the past. In board scope, archaeology relies on cross-disciplinary research. It draws upon anthropology, history, art-history, classics, ethnology, geography, geology, physics, chemistry, statistics, paleoecology, paleography, paleontology, paleozoology and paleo botany.

The department, over the years, has established itself as one of country’s top entities of producing archaeologist. As the Chairman of the Department of Archaeology, I am indeed delighted to work with eighteen other talented colleagues. We have an enriched seminar library, multimedia class room, also a lab facilities.
