Md Azmain Muhtasim Mir is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Comilla University, Cumilla, Bangladesh. In December 2018, Azmain received a Master of Anthropology (Advanced) degree from The Australian National University, Australia. Earlier, he completed his Bachelor and Master in Anthropology at the University of Rajshahi (RU), Rajshahi, Bangladesh. After graduation, Azmain worked as a researcher and a research officer in different research projects at Save the Children International (SCI) and Icddr'b. Subsequently, he joined the Department of Anthropology, Comilla University as a lecturer and working here since July 2013. He was promoted to the position of Assistant Professor in July 2016. Azmain’s recent and previous researches mainly explored the representation and marginalization of ethnic and religious minorities; issues in cultural heritage, tourism development and management; impact of digital technology and commodification on urban youth; structural violence against working-class women and children in Bangladesh; construction of personhood through well-being and social aspirations, exclusion and vulnerabilities through medicalization, development disaster and social surveillance.
